Castle Veterinary Group

If you are thinking of taking your pet abroad this year, we can help you make the necessary arrangements to issue your pet with a passport.
All of our vets are "Official Veterinarians", which means that they have undertaken the appropriate DEFRA training and are authorized to issue pet passports.
For pets travelling within the EU the steps involved in getting a passport are:
1. Your pet must be microchipped
2. Your pet must be vaccinated for Rabies
3. The passport can then be issued
We offer a "Pet Passport Package" which includes all of the above - please contact us for further details or to request a free "Taking Your Pet Abroad" booklet, which provides more detail on the Pet Travel Scheme.
It is important to note that the passport is not valid for return into the UK from abroad until 21 days from the date of rabies vaccination, so please take this into account when planning your travel dates. Please note that it is your responsibility to ensure that your pet has rabies booster vaccinations to prevent the passport from expiring.
Before returning to the UK, your pet will need to have a tapeworm treatment, certified by an appropriately qualified vet abroad.
There are diseases present in Europe that are not found in the UK. Please ask your vet for advice on how to prevent your pet from contracting these diseases.
Please note that it is your responsibility to ensure that your pet meets all the rules of entering the UK under the pet travel scheme. Please look at the DEFRA website for further information and for information about travelling to non-EU countries.
